The Tech for Good Alliance

140 million volunteering hours are unused by UK employees every year. We bridge the gap between the tech industry’s advanced skillsets, corporate ESG goals, and the frontline digital needs of the third sector.

The 140 million hour opportunity

over 140 million hours of employer-supported volunteering time went unused in 2024, despite 62% of companies offering workplace volunteer schemes.[1] That’s equivalent to 75,000 employees working full-time to support civil society.

The participation rate for corporate volunteering sits at 11% on average in 2026. [2] Skills-based volunteering often stalls because finding, vetting, and managing highly specific digital projects for under-resourced charities takes time your managers don't have. Our mission is to stop that from being a problem.

Joining forces to create positive change

Created in 2022 by the Scottish Tech Army, The Tech for Good Alliance is now a pillar of the UK’s tech for good ecosystem.

Thanks to our work with corporates, hundreds of nonprofits and charities can access digital solutions they wouldn’t have had otherwise.

By harnessing even a small portion of the skills, creativity and talent of the tech sector, we can make sure the third sector have the tools and automations they need to focus on important and often life-saving front-line work.

“What used to take one of my team two days a week now takes 20 minutes. The spare capacity is being well spent elsewhere.”
